GRAMMY-nominated Skylark vocal sensation and Cape Symphony Principal Cellist Jacques Lee Wood featured

Join the Cape Symphony for a celebration of Johann Sebastian Bach in Bach in Forth, highlighting some of his most beloved work paired with more modern takes on his creativity from musicians he inspired.
In its first-ever all-Bach performance, the Cape Symphony will triumphantly celebrate the Baroque giant with the “Brandenburg Concerto No. 5,” and a passionate interpretation of “Prelude from Cello Suite No. 1” featuring Cape Symphony principal cellist Jacques Lee Wood.
“Jacques is a young, vibrant performer who will start our tribute to Bach alone on stage performing one of the world’s greatest works of art; it will be a riveting moment,” said Artistic Director & Conductor Jung-Ho Pak, adding, “The ‘Prelude’ is the Mona Lisa of music.”
Another highlight of Bach and Forth is “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” which features vocal sensation Skylark and their unparalleled tapestry of voices. Their most recent album, “Seven Words from the Cross” was GRAMMY-nominated for Best Choral Performance and Best Immersive Audio. Skylark’s critically acclaimed performances have made them favorites on Cape Cod and throughout Massachusetts.
“Having the Skylark ensemble on this program brings this music to a whole new level,” said Pak. “Their gripping voices reach audiences in their seats and immerses them in the music in such a powerful way.”
In the second half of Bach and Forth, the Cape Symphony will present more modern interpretations of Bach, including Leopold Stokowski’s famous re-imagining of Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue,” which is heard in Disney’s Fantasia, as well as Anton Webern’s “Ricercar” from Bach’s The Musical Offering.
Harpsichord musician Peter Sykes will also be featured throughout Bach and Forth, but highlighted during the Brandenburg Concerto. He has performed in Europe and throughout the United States, including a performance at Boston’s Jordan Hall where he was a featured artist in the Bank of Boston Emerging Artists Celebrity series.

Cape Symphony Thanksgiving Food Drive
Help the Cape Symphony provide healthy holiday meals for deserving local families. Please bring gift cards from grocery stores and local food retailers to the Nov. 2 and Nov. 3 Bach and Forth concert. Cash and checks made out to the Cape Symphony will also be accepted. The gift cards and donations will be distributed to food pantries across Cape Cod for their Thanksgiving preparations.
Donations will also be accepted at the Cape Symphony office located at 1060 Falmouth Road, Hyannis, MA until Nov. 1.
