Cape Symphony Performance the Highlight of September 30th Fundraising Event
HYANNIS, MA—September 14, 2021
The Cape Symphony’s annual gala, Crescendo: An Evening of Joy, will be held at the Wychmere Beach Club in Harwich Port on Thursday, September 30, 2021.
The evening’s highlight will be a performance by the Cape Symphony, led by Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director & Conductor, in a program that will celebrate the Symphony’s significant growth and impact on Cape Cod over the past 60 years.
Pak has planned an evening that demonstrates the excellence and wide variety of the music for which the Cape Symphony is known, from pops to classical and everything in between. The program includes a movement from Bach's “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3,” featuring the string principals, and a selection from Irish Suite by Leroy Anderson as a preview of the Cape Symphony’s “Passport to Ireland” concert in February 2022.
Gala guests will also experience the Cape Symphony's clever Baroque take on "Penny Lane" by John Lennon & Paul McCartney, "Voiliere" from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens, and "Simple Gifts" from Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland. The orchestra will also perform Mozart's "Impressario Overture," an excerpt from Dvorak's New World Symphony, and a Broadway tribute.
“I created this program to provide an exclusive preview of our new season, and to celebrate the Cape Symphony’s role as an essential partner in our community,” said Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director & Conductor. “We’ve come so far in a relatively short amount of time. I’d like to give thanks to everyone who has supported our incredible journey to becoming one of the largest and most successful symphonies in the region.”
“The gala benefits the Cape Symphony’s educational programs that bring the joy of music, art, and dance to students of all ages here on the Cape,” said Michael Albaugh, Cape Symphony Executive Director. “Thanks to our generous supporters, we never turn a student away for financial reasons, and are able to bring powerful programs out into the community.”
Crescendo: An Evening of Joy will be held at the Wychmere Beach Club in Harwich Port on Thursday, September 30th beginning at 5:00 p.m. The evening will include fine dining and exclusive silent and live auction items. Doreen Bilezikian, chair of the Bilezikian Family Foundation, will be presented with the Warren Marsh Cultural Ambassador Award. Serving as emcee and auctioneer for the night will be Jimmy Tingle, humorist, commentator and founder of “Humor for Humanity.”
