The Cape Symphony Performs a Free Summer Pops Show at the Cape Cod National Seashore

Annual Outdoor Concert Tradition Returns on Friday, August 26, 2022

HYANNIS, MA—May 31, 2022

Picture a perfect summer evening – a picnic in a beautiful seaside setting with live music! Join the Cape Symphony at the Cape Cod National Seashore’s outdoor amphitheater for the fifth Symphony at the Seashore concert on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 7:00 PM. Pre-concert activities for kids and parents will be offered from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM. Admission is free.

This free, family-friendly performance, presented by the National Park Service and the Cape Symphony and sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore, had become a tradition for visitors and locals alike prior to the pandemic, and the Cape Cod National Seashore and Cape Symphony are delighted to bring this event back.

“We’ve missed performing at the National Seashore; there’s nothing else like it!” said Jung-Ho Pak, Cape Symphony Artistic Director & Conductor. “Performing outdoors, in such a wonderful setting, for a happy summertime crowd is one of the pleasures of life on Cape Cod.”

The Cape Symphony will be joined by special guest Dawn Derow. Dawn grew up in Eastham and began pursuing her performing career in her childhood. She graduated from the Boston Conservatory with a Bachelor’s in Music, and has performed in New York City and around the world in operas, musicals, and, over the past dozen years, as an award-winning cabaret singer.

Dawn sang with the Cape Symphony at our annual Holiday on the Cape in 2021, and I’m excited to have her join us at the Seashore,” said Pak. Dawn will perform “Olde Cape Cod,” as made famous by Patti Page, “(I Like New York in June) How About You?” and “Over the Rainbow,” among other favorites.

The program will also include a Disney medley, a special multimedia tribute to the National Parks and the Cape Cod National Seashore in particular, and stirring patriotic numbers, including a tribute to our armed forces and veterans.

Join the Cape Symphony at the Cape Cod National Seashore on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 7:00 PM at the Salt Pond Visitor Center Amphitheater (rain date is Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 7:00 PM and if necessary, will be announced via social media and on the Cape Symphony and Cape Cod National Seashore websites Friday morning). Admission is free and tickets are not required.

The Salt Pond Visitor Center Amphitheater is located at 50 Nauset Road at the intersection of Route 6 in Eastham. Parking is available at Salt Pond Visitor Center or the nearby Little Creek Parking Area, with free shuttle to and from the event. Bench and lawn chair seating available on a first-come, first-serve basis; the amphitheater is wheelchair accessible. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy on the grounds. No food or drink will be available for purchase; there are bottle filling stations for water. Note that pets are not allowed. Those attending are encouraged to bring flashlights for ease in returning to vehicles.
