WEST BARNSTABLE, MA—September 3, 2024
Program offers ensembles for beginning through advanced musicians
Cape Symphony announces auditions for its Youth Orchestra Program (CSYOP) at its West Barnstable and Falmouth campuses on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
All musicians up to age 21 who play orchestral instruments are welcome. "We look forward to meeting and hearing young musicians from all corners of Cape Cod and the Islands at our upcoming auditions," says CSYOP Director Kyle Spraker. "This season will be packed with excitement as we expand our ensemble offerings, introduce our mentorship initiative, and continue to strengthen our connection to the Cape Symphony Orchestra and its incredible musicians."
CSYOP consists of four levels of ensembles: Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra (Advanced), Repertory (Intermediate), Debut (Advanced Beginner), and Primary (Beginner). The audition process places students of similar ability and experience together in the appropriate level. All program musicians learn to rehearse and perform, exploring the beauty and intricacy of history’s greatest compositions while improving their musicianship and technical ability.
The CSYOP season begins in mid-September and concludes in May. All new and returning musicians must audition each season.
Information and advice about CSYOP auditions, including the form to request an audition, can be found at https://capesymphony.org/education/youth-orchestra/auditions.
Interested students may participate in an Audition Workshop at Cape Symphony’s Family Arts Festival on Saturday, September 7 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at our West Barnstable campus.
