Ana Glig

Ana Glig (Gligvashvili) is an award-winning concert pianist praised for her ability to “capture hearts” by Musical America. A recipient of the Alfred Cortot prize at the Tbilisi International Piano Competition for the best interpretation of romantic music, Glig has performed internationally in Europe and United States in solo and chamber settings. As an orchestra soloist, Glig debuted with Georgian and Israeli symphonic orchestras. In the review of her album ‘Reminiscences’ Fanfare Magazine recognized Glig’s playing for it’s “ever sensitivity” and ability to finely capture some of Georgia’s haunting, elusive film melodies ..as well as anyone on disc. A native of Georgia, Glig’s first musical impressions trace back to her early childhood and to Georgian polyphonic singing. In 2019, Glig co-founded a piano festival and competition for talented youth in Eastern part of Georgia. Glig’s passion for synthesis of music and art has alsoled her create MusArt Interconnections, a series of multi-media concerts combining classical piano repertoire with visual imagery.

Glig received her Master’s degree in piano performance from Mannes School of Music -The New School (NYC), an Advanced Certificate in piano performance and pedagogy from NewYork University (NYU Steinhardt) and a Bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Tbilisi State Conservatoire (Republic of Georgia). As an adjunct faculty member at NYU Steinhardt, Glig taught private and group piano lessons.

After moving from New York City, Glig now resides on Cape Cod, where she continues to perform, teach and accompany choir. Her hobbies include cycling and running.

"My love for music stems from a very early age; I was only two years old when I was introduced to piano very first time. I credit formation of my musicianship and personality, however, to my wonderful piano teachers and mentors, who inspired and supported me throughout my musical upbringing. I believe that one-on-one piano lessons are unique opportunities, prerequisites in forming a very special teacher-student relationships and work ethic, which is as important as developing and molding musical talents, personalities. My goal in teaching piano is to pass onto the knowledge, experience and skills I received from my teachers to my future students, to inspire and encourage my students and bring out best of their abilities, skills and talents."
