Randall Goosby: A Talent on the Rise Performs in “Mayflower and Beyond”

“For me, personally, music has been a way to inspire others” – Randall Goosby’s own words sum up perfectly his commitment to being an artist who makes a difference.

Signed exclusively to Decca Classics in 2020 at the age of 24, American violinist Randall Goosby is acclaimed for the sensitivity and intensity of his musicianship alongside his determination to make music more inclusive and accessible.

Randall made his debut with the Jacksonville Symphony at age nine. At age 13, he performed with the New York Philharmonic on a Young People’s Concert at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall and became the youngest recipient ever to win the Sphinx Concerto Competition! A graduate of the Juilliard School, he continues his studies there, pursuing an Artist Diploma under Itzhak Perlman.

The extraordinary highlights of Randall Goosby’s year so far included making his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel at the Hollywood Bowl. On June 6, 2021, he performed on the 43rd Kennedy Center Honors ceremony, which was broadcast on CBS for an audience of over 5 million television viewers.

June also marked the release of Randall’s debut album for Decca entitled Roots, a celebration of African-American music that explores its evolution from the spiritual through to present-day compositions.

On September 11, 2021, Randall performed at the National September 11th Twentieth Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the 9/11 attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. He played “Adoration” by Florence Price with pianist Zhu Wang at Ground Zero at 10:00 AM, in between the first moment of silence symbolizing the fall of the South Tower and ahead of the moment of silence symbolizing Flight 93’s crash in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Randall is deeply passionate about inspiring and serving others through education, social engagement, and outreach activities. He has enjoyed working with non-profit organizations such as the Opportunity Music Project, which aims to give equal access to every child in New York City to learn an instrument, and Concerts in Motion, which provides personalized community-based live music for New York’s most isolated residents.

Randall Goosby plays a 1735 Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesu on generous loan from the Stradivari Society.
