Chatham Chorale joins the Cape Symphony for Holiday on the Cape

The Chatham Chorale Celebrates 50 Years

Everyone at the Cape Symphony looks forward to honoring our friends and frequent collaborators the Chatham Chorale at Holiday on the Cape in December.

It’s been two years since our last "Holiday" celebration, so we’re even more excited to bring the musicians of the Cape Symphony and the singers of the Chatham Chorale together again!

It was at a 1971 Christmas concert, 50 years ago, that the combined group of singers from area churches first called themselves “The Chatham Chorale.” Today, the Chatham Chorale’s is dedicated to performing the world’s rich diversity of choral music and supporting the musical arts and artists on Cape Cod.

The Chatham Chorale’s Music Director, Joseph Marchio, is as beloved as the group he leads. Joe became Music Director of the Chorale in 2010.  Joe has two Bachelor’s degrees from the College of Wooster, in organ performance and in religious studies.  He earned a Master of Divinity degree at the Yale University Institute of Sacred Music, and a Master of Music degree in choral conducting at the Boston Conservatory. Joe is also the Pastor and Director of Music of the First Congregational Church of Chatham, where the Chorale performs its concerts.

The Chatham Chorale’s three-concert season will begin with Candlelight Christmas n December 18 and 19, 2021, followed in the spring by a Chatham Chorale Chamber Singers concert featuring the Liebeslieder Waltzes, and concluding with an anniversary benefit concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Chatham Chorale and the 300th anniversary of the First Congregational Church of Chatham. Learn more at their website.

At Holiday on the Cape, the Chatham Chorale will feature in the second half of the program, with Joe conducting two numbers himself: “The First Noel” and “Angels We Have Heard on High.” Look for a surprise for long-time fans of the Chatham Chorale!
