Cameron Renshaw joins the Cape Symphony for Forever Young in November 2022

Cameron Renshaw

Rising cellist Cameron Renshaw, a true prodigy, is gaining recognition for expressive performances that are beyond his years. Most recently, he received the “First Great Award” at the 6th Manhattan International Music Competition and performed at the Gala Concert in Carnegie Hall in July 2022.

Cameron was born in Grand Rapids, MI in 2011 and has played cello since 2017. In 2019, he made his orchestral solo debut with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. As a first place or grand prize winner of dozens of international competitions, he has had the honor of performing in some of the world’s greatest concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

He has been featured on local and national media and in a performance on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” in 2020. In recent years, Cameron soloed with ensembles such as the Kamarata Stradivarius Orchestra in Bucharest, Romania and the Cello Ensemble of Grand Valley State University, where he currently studies with Dr. Pablo Mahave-Veglia.

Cameron also enjoys playing popular electric guitar solos on his electric cello, most recently performing hits by Metallica and Black Sabbath at Graceland live in Memphis, TN. Cameron performs on a small 7/8 size 1995 Michèle Ashley cello.
