We’re excited to return to the Cape Cod National Seashore for the third time on August 24. It all started in 2016 with a celebration of the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary, and has now become an annual event.
Among the highlights of the Symphony at the Seashore concert will be themes from Hollywood blockbusters by the incomparable John Williams. Did you know that Williams is the second most Oscar-nominated person in history, after Walt Disney? Perhaps just as remarkable, he’s won almost 50% of the time!
The American Film Institute selected Williams's score to 1977's Star Wars as the greatest American film score of all time. The soundtrack to Star Wars has also been preserved by the Library of Congress into the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." You’ll hear one of the most beautiful themes from Star Wars, "Princess Leia's Theme," along with the “Flying Theme” from E.T. and, of course, the perfect John Williams song to play when near the ocean. You know the one…
The concert is free, and you should bring your lawn chairs and a picnic – it’s such a beautiful setting and a great place to spend the late afternoon and early evening while you await the concert, which begins at 7:00 PM. Get all the details and mark your calendars.
