Cape Symphony Announces Annual “Crescendo: An Evening of Joy” Gala in September 2021

Doreen Bilezikian to Receive Warren Marsh Cultural Ambassador Award

HYANNIS, MA—July 6, 2021

The Cape Symphony is pleased to announce that the annual gala Crescendo: An Evening of Joy will be held at the Wychmere Beach Club in Harwich Port on Thursday, September 30, 2021. The gala will feature a performance by the Cape Symphony, led by Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director & Conductor. The gala benefits the Cape Symphony’s educational programs that bring the joy of music, art, and dance to students of all ages in the Cape Cod community.

The Cape Symphony has selected Doreen Bilezikian as this year’s recipient of the Warren Marsh Cultural Ambassador Award. The award was created to honor community leaders that have a history of recognizing the importance of artistic and cultural endeavors in the Cape community. A formal presentation of the Warren Marsh Cultural Ambassador Award will take place at the Crescendo: An Evening of Joy gala.

“Doreen is well known in our community for her outstanding commitment to the arts. She has provided her time, talents, and treasure to so many worthy causes and passionately supports music and art that enriches the lives of Cape residents,” said Michael Albaugh, Cape Symphony Executive Director.

Doreen and her husband Charles founded the Christmas Tree Shops in 1970. Over the years, she was involved in many aspects of the thriving business, including human resources, marketing, community relations, and administration. Doreen is past chair of the Cape Cod Economic Development Council, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, and the Cape Cod Museum of Art, as well as past president of the board of governors of the Cape Cod Conservatory for Music and Arts, now a part of the Cape Symphony. She is currently chair of the Bilezikian Family Foundation.

“Doreen’s legacy with our organization is a powerful one,” said Albaugh. “We are grateful for the extraordinary impact that Doreen’s personal and professional leadership has had on the Cape Cod community and especially on the growth of the Cape Symphony.”

Crescendo: An Evening of Joy will be held at the Wychmere Beach Club in Harwich Port on Thursday, September 30th beginning at 5:00 p.m. The Cape Symphony, under the direction of Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director & Conductor, will perform, and the evening will include fine dining and exclusive silent and live auction items. Serving as emcee and auctioneer for the night will be Jimmy Tingle, humorist, commentator and founder of “Humor for Humanity.” Tingle has worked as a humorist and commentator for “60 Minutes II” and “MSNBC,” and has appeared on “The Tonight Show,” “CNN,” “Conan O’Brien,” “Fresh Air with Terry Gross” and in his own HBO half-hour comedy special.
