CapePOPS! concert celebrates the Motown legacy
Cape Symphony’s first Pops concert of the season will celebrate some of Motown’s greatest hits, including “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Superstition,” and “My Girl.” “Dancing in the Street: The Music of Motown” will be performed on October 19 and 20, 2024.
Terron Brooks, Crystal Monee Hall, and Jesse Nager are guest vocalists for this thrilling program. Troy Quinn will conduct.
Terron Brooks (pictured above) has sung with Stevie Wonder, David Foster, Phil Collins, One Republic, and Smokey Robinson. He has credits from Broadway – as Simba in The Lion King and Seaweed in Hairspray – and television (The Temptations, Curb Your Enthusiasm, American Idol, The Voice, The Ellen DeGeneres Show), and has traveled with the Disney in Concert Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Brooks is a two-time NAACP Image Award nominee for best supporting actor and an Ovation nominee for best featured actor. He is co-creator and star of The Soul of Broadway, reimagining Broadway favorites, and has written, produced, and recorded his own records.
Crystal Monee Hall’s career includes Broadway (Rent), sold-out tours with Mickey Hart (Grateful Dead) and Dave Schools (Widespread Panic), and television appearances including Saturday Night Live, High Maintenance, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and Good Morning America. She was a featured vocalist in Kristin Chenoweth’s “For The Girls” Broadway concerts; in Emmy, Tony, and Grammy-winning Ben Platt’s Netflix special at Radio City Music Hall, and for his sold-out tour; and on Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award Winner Cynthia Erivo’s PBS special. She has performed with Kanye West, Kesha, and Mariah Carey, to name just a few.
Jesse Nager has sung with Mariah Carey and Shania Twain at Madison Square Garden, with Jason Mraz at Radio City Music Hall, and with Patti LaBelle and Joe Pesci. His vocals are on the Hairspray movie soundtrack, both seasons of NBC’s Smash, and many commercials, corporate recordings, and symphonic concerts. As an arranger, Mr. Nager creates music for many kinds of events including parades, albums, corporate events, and weddings. He is Founder and Artistic Director of The Broadway Boys, a collection of Broadway singers who rearrange traditional musical theater repertoire with elements of pop, funk, and gospel to redefine the Broadway sound.
Emmy-nominated Troy Quinn is lauded for his energetic, riveting, yet sensitive conducting. He is Music Director of Kentucky’s Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Florida’s Venice Symphony, and California’s Santa Monica Symphony. He has performed with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and the Rhode Island Philharmonic, where he also serves as Pops Conductor. Mr. Quinn has performed and recorded with The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Barry Manilow, Jennifer Hudson, and many others. An accomplished vocalist, he has appeared on Glee, The Voice, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
