"Sing Us A Song:" Cape Symphony Concert to Celebrate Billy Joel

WEST BARNSTABLE, MA—April 15, 2025
CapePOPS! show will feature the Piano Man's greatest hits

The Cape Symphony Orchestra will perform “Sing Us A Song: The Music of Billy Joel” at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM, and on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 3:00 PM. The Saturday matinee was added by popular demand.

The concert will take audiences on a fabulous ride through some of iconic American singer, songwriter, and pianist Billy Joel’s greatest hits. The program includes “Movin’ Out,” “She’s Always A Woman,” “Only the Good Die Young,” and “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant.” Guest artists Jean Meilleur and John Regan will sing and play the piano for this exciting CapePOPS! performance. Kevin Fitzgerald will conduct.

Madison, Wisconsin native Jean Meilleur has performed with scores of major orchestras, earning critical acclaim for his passionate, robust, and distinctive voice. “To sing some of the greatest popular music of our time, in my own voice, is a rush beyond compare,” he says. He is also the Canadian voice of Jim Beam Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. London-based pianist John Regan is “classically trained but conditioned by rock, pop, and folk music,” and cites Joe Jackson, Tom Waits, and Elton John as influences. He is known for his vast repertoire and for adding insight and whimsy to his performances.

Acclaimed guest conductor Kevin Fitzgerald returns to the Barnstable Performing Arts Center to lead these performances (Cape Symphony audiences may remember him from our popular Passport to Hungary concerts). Mr. Fitzgerald is Associate Conductor of the Jacksonville Symphony. He is the first conductor to win the Special Prize for Best Performance of the Contemporary Piece at the prestigious Mahler Competition. He was a 2021 Tanglewood Music Center Conducting Fellow, and is a four-time recipient of a Solti Foundation Career Assistance Grant.

The Barnstable Performing Arts Center is located at 744 West Main Street, Hyannis. The concert is approximately two hours long, including a 20-minute intermission.
