July 14 Community Sing will introduct the program to singers of all backgrounds
WEST BARNSTABLE, MA—June 9, 2026
Cape Symphony Conservatory announces the Cape Symphony Youth Chorus, a dynamic new program for singers aged 12–20 who are passionate about music, performance, and artistic growth.
Created as part of Cape Symphony Conservatory’s expanding education programs, the Youth Chorus is an ensemble experience focused on vocal development, musicianship, collaboration, and confidence-building. The program’s flagship ensemble will be Concert Choir, offering an elevated level of singing and accentuating school programs around the Cape. Performances with other Cape Symphony ensembles and community arts partners will connect students with the broader cultural life of Cape Cod.
CSYC will be directed by Stephanie Riley, an accomplished singer with over 20 years’ experience as a music educator in the Dennis-Yarmouth district. She is Choral Music Director at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, Founder and Artistic Director of Soleil Women’s Choir of Cape Cod, Assistant Choir Director at the First Congregational Church of Chatham, and sings with the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Tanglewood Festival Chorus and the Chatham Chorale. She holds degrees from Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and The Hartt School at the University of Hartford, and a CAGS in Choral Conducting from Messiah University.
“My vision for this chorus is that it will become a community,” says Ms. Riley. “If you like to sing, we’d like to have you!”
As an introduction to CSYC, singers of all backgrounds and experience levels are invited to a fun, free Community Sing led by Ms. Riley on July 14 from 7:00–8:30 PM at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod (307 Old Main Street, South Yarmouth). No audition or preparation is required.
Vocal placements for CSYC membership will take place at Cape Symphony’s West Barnstable campus (2235 Iyannough Road) on June 19, July 30 & 31, August 27 & 28, and September 13. These are friendly, low-pressure evaluations; no prior experience is required. See capesymphony.org/education/youth-chorus for suggestions for preparing for your vocal placement.
Ms. Riley will hold a one-day Choral Clinic at Cape Symphony’s West Barnstable campus on August 14 from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM. Participants will practice healthy singing, tone production, musical expression, sight singing, and rehearsal techniques while connecting with other young singers. The clinic will conclude with an informal performance at 3:00 PM, showcasing the day’s work.
