Lydia Parkington holds a Master’s degree in Cello Performance from Syracuse University. She has performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles including the Syracuse Orchestra (as Assistant Principal Cello), Albany Symphony Orchestra, Syracuse Chamber Orchestra, Binghamton Philharmonic, the Society for New Music (Syracuse), and as a soloist with the Cape Symphony Orchestra.
Lydia’s teaching experience spans students of all ages in private studio and university settings, including as Adjunct Professor of Cello at LeMoyne College. As a private instructor, she uses a wide range of techniques, practice methods, and schedules according to each student’s level and needs, from absolute beginners to those preparing for state and regional orchestra auditions, competitions, and recitals.
In the non-classical world, Lydia has toured the nation as part of the indie-folk band Parkington Sisters, performing in esteemed venues including Bonnaroo Music Festival and the Chicago Cultural Center. The band opened for Dropkick Murphys and performed an encore show with Bruce Springsteen.
