Melinda Gallant recently sat down with Jung-Ho, our Artistic Director & Conductor, for her “Cape Conversation” show on Sandwich Community Television.
Their wide-ranging conversation covers everything from the impact of music on children (and how to get teenagers and young adults to come back to concerts after they are exposed to the experience through programs like our Music Works! Everyday) to the challenge we all face in finding time for arts and entertainment in our busy lives.
Interestingly, Jung-Ho explains to Melinda why he doesn’t like the term “Maestro” – among other reasons, Maestro means “master” or “teacher,” and Jung-Ho says, “I’m a student, as far as I’m concerned. Always learning.”
He talks about the teamwork it takes to create a concert: “Obviously, I wave my hands, but I don’t make any sounds. It’s the musicians,” and about his appreciation for the Cape, saying, “This community is so gracious, and warm, and welcoming, and I don’t take that for granted.”
Jung-Ho takes Melinda through a deep dive into the 2018/19 Cape Symphony season, explaining, “I thrive on variety. That’s how I put together this season.” Check out the video to learn more about the man on the podium and hear his thoughts on our upcoming concerts.
