About Today’s Program
Julius Thomas has appeared across the country as the lead in the greatest musical of the 21st century: Hamilton: An American Musical. Mark Kopitzke has toured the world for nine years as the lead singer of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Now, the longtime friends have come together to create their own magical show, “The Kings of Soul & Swing.” This February weekend will be the first time the “Kings” have performed the show with an orchestra, and lucky for them, it happens to be our outstanding Cape Symphony.
“When I found out about these two, I knew immediately that our Cape Symphony audience would love them,” says Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director & Conductor, Cape Symphony. “They instinctively understand how to perform the great songs of the ‘40s through the ‘70s, making the American songbook come alive with their incredible energy and charisma.”
Mark and Julius love to debate about their favorite crooners. Whether it’s Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Michael Buble, Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones, Tony Bennett, or John Legend, The Kings of Soul & Swing bring a fresh take, blending their own amazing voices and powerful stage presence to make classics new again.
