“This season is already selling way ahead of expectations, and I think it’s because it’s one of our most imaginative and dramatic seasons ever,” said Artistic Director & Conductor Jung-Ho Pak.

Among those that came here in the 20th century were many important composers. The Cape Symphony will present works by some of these talented immigrants, including the brilliant Igor Stravinsky.

Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 7:30 PM | Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 3:00 PM
Featuring: Ji-Hae Park, Violin
Some of the most powerful music of opera is actually not sung, but played. In this unusual and unique event, the Cape Symphony will present some of the most beautiful and unforgettable symphonic moments of opera, letting the orchestra take center stage. With its mythic battle between the forces of good and evil, an inspiration for modern heroic sagas like Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings, Wagner’s epic cycle The Ring requires an enormous orchestra to support the larger-than-life music. Ji-Hae Park, one of the most emotional and engaging violinists in the world will perform the fiery melodies from Carmen.

Like a rock star, Beethoven wrote music that was raw, unfiltered and personal. Performing without a conductor to filter his singular voice, the Cape Symphony musicians are set free to unleash the music of Beethoven. Concertmaster Jae Cosmos Lee takes the lead for the ebullient, uplifting Symphony No. 1 – the orchestra will literally be on its feet! Pianist Martina Filjak, compared by critics to a tiger for her fierce yet graceful playing, comes center stage for piano pieces from the pantheon.
