CCNS will welcome the Cape Symphony for family-friendly performance on Friday, August 24
HYANNIS, MA—July 31, 2018
Grab the lawn chairs, blanket and a picnic dinner, then head to the Cape Cod National Seashore for the third annual Symphony at the Seashore concert on August 24 at 7:00 PM.
This free family-friendly performance, presented by the National Park Service and Cape Symphony, highlights everything fun about summer on Cape Cod: beautiful setting, artful collaboration and quintessential summer music.
“The program for this year’s concert at the Seashore is so joyful. We’ll take a trip down Broadway with some amazing singers. We’ll present music from Hollywood blockbusters, including Jaws, and feature some movies filmed in National Parks, like Star Wars and E.T.” said Cape Symphony Artistic Director & Conductor Jung-Ho Pak. “We’re honored to be joined by the United States Air Force Band, and the highlight of the evening will be soul-stirring patriotic tunes.”
In addition to the USAF Band, performers include the Cape Symphony’s own Operations and Personnel Manager, singer and retired MSgt Jennifer E. Dashnaw, USAF; Cape native and critically acclaimed jazz/pop star Jessica Curran, and Connecticut-based Berklee grad Jesse Terry. Barnstable actor Sherrie Smith Scudder will appear in an excerpt from “Ellis Island: The Dream of America,” providing a sneak peek of this multimedia production for actors and orchestra featured in the Cape Symphony’s September 22 and 23 season opener, Passport to America.
“We are thrilled to be invited back to the Cape Cod National Seashore for our third consecutive summer,” said Pak. “Songs like ‘I Could Have Danced All Night,’ and ‘Over the Rainbow,’ not to mention ‘Stars and Stripes Forever’ and the ‘Armed Forces Salute’ will surely have locals and visitors alike singing along and tapping their feet. It will be a delightfully fun evening in the most wonderful summer setting imaginable.”
This concert is made possible by major financial support from International Fund for Animal Welfare, Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore, and Eastern National.
