Cape Symphony Announces 2024 "Summer of Stars"

Summer series includes free July 4 concert at Aselton Park in Hyannis

Cape Symphony will present three exciting concerts during the summer of 2024.

Joy4July,” part of the Town of Barnstable’s Fourth of July celebrations, is on Thursday, July 4 at 7:30 pm at Aselton Park overlooking Hyannis Harbor; Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert is on Saturday, July 27 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, July 28 at 3:00 pm at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center; and “An Evening with Cape Symphony Orchestra, Featuring Livingston Taylor” is at the Cape Cod Melody Tent on Sunday, August 18 at 7:00 pm.

Joy4July” will be the culmination of the Town of Barnstable’s day-long July 4th celebrations, which include village parades, road races, the Hyannis Harbor Boat Parade, and live music on Main Street in downtown Hyannis and at the Hyannis Village Green Bandstand. The Cape Symphony Orchestra will perform at 7:30 pm in Aselton Park, at the corner of Ocean and South Streets (rain date: 7:30 pm Friday, July 5). The Orchestra will be led by Assistant Conductor Joe Marchio and joined by former Barnstable Town Council President and well-known tenor Matthew Levesque. Blending Americana, patriotic, and cinematic music, “Joy4July” is free to the public and no tickets are required. “Joy4July” is made possible in part by Cape Symphony’s collaborative partners, the Town of Barnstable and the Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District.

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back In Concert will feature two screenings of the complete 1980 film with Oscar®-winning composer John Williams’ musical score performed live to the film by the Cape Symphony Orchestra. Fans will be able to experience the scope and grandeur of this beloved film in a live symphonic concert experience. Performances are Saturday, July 27 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, July 28 at 3:00 pm at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center. The presentation is licensed by Disney Concerts. Legendary singer-songwriter Livingston Taylor will join the Cape Symphony Orchestra in concert at the Cape Cod Melody Tent on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 7:00 pm. Cape Symphony’s Joe Marchio will conduct a lively and heartwarming program of music spanning the decades, from rollicking Broadway tunes and swinging jazz standards to folk favorites and popular selections from the Great American Songbook. Tickets for “An Evening with Cape Symphony Orchestra featuring Livingston Taylor” will be sold only through the Cape Cod Melody Tent Box Office, online at melodytent.org or by phone at 508.775.5630.
