Cape Symphony presents Forever Young in November 2022

The Cape Symphony Celebrates the Art of Music Written for Children

“Forever Young” presents childhood favorites with sophistication and wit

HYANNIS, MA—October 19, 2022

On November 12th and 13th, the Cape Symphony presents Forever Young, a celebration of the art of music written for children by sophisticated composers who included sharp wit and amusement along with musical education in these pieces.

The performance will include The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Paul Dukas, The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra by Benjamin Britten, and Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev. Audiences will enjoy hearing this beautifully composed music again, especially as performed by the professional musicians of the Cape Symphony, led by Artistic Director & Conductor Jung-Ho Pak.

“Adults will remember the first time they heard this treasured music, and will appreciate the complexity and level of excellence,” said Pak. “And it’ll make a great family outing, the perfect way to introduce your children and grandchildren to a whole new world.”

While this show was designed with adults in mind, guests are encouraged to bring their children or grandchildren to the performance, letting this concert serve as their first-ever exposure to classical music. To that end, Michael Albaugh, Executive Director, explains, “One of our generous donors, who is passionate about exposing young people to the joy of live classical music, is helping to make that happen by offering complimentary tickets to children.” Call the Box Office to redeem the special offer for “Forever Young” and mention KIDSFREE. Adult family members pay full price and children ages six to 18 receive free tickets.

The orchestra will be joined by a special guest, cellist Cameron Renshaw. Cameron is a true prodigy, making his orchestral solo debut at the age of eight with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. He has performed in some of the world’s greatest concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in 2020. Cameron will perform Tarantella by David Popper.

“Cameron is only eleven years old, but he’s already had an extraordinary career and is currently studying cello at the university level,” said Pak. “I’m excited to work with him and to share his exceptional talent with our audience.”

In The Carnival of the Animals, Cape residents Ana Glig and James Rosenblum will perform the double piano. Both are highly trained and accomplished pianists who have endeared themselves to audiences across the Cape.

The Cape Symphony is proud to present Forever Young on Saturday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 13 at 3:00 p.m. at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center, 744 West Main Street, Hyannis.
