Cape Symphony & Conservatory Names New Members to Board of Trustees

Four community leaders tapped as newest members of non-profit board

HYANNIS, MA—July 10, 2020

The Cape Symphony & Conservatory has named four new members of the Board of Trustees for the 2020/21 year.

South Orleans resident Ellen A. Dickinson continues as Board Chair, with Henry Holden of Chatham serving as Vice Chair. Steven Heslinga of Centerville remains the Treasurer, and Patricia Cahill of West Barnstable is Secretary of the 21-member board.

New members to the Cape Symphony & Conservatory Board are:

John Meyer, Orleans
John, the Founder and a Principal of John Meyer Consulting, is licensed as a Professional Engineer and Professional Planner with more than 50 years of experience. John holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree with a specialization in Sanitary Engineering from New York University College of Engineering. He has received numerous awards, including “Engineer of the Year” from the American Society of Civil Engineers. John has served as a Director of the Westchester County Chapter of New York State Society of Professional Engineers and as Chairman of the Civil and Construction Technology Committee Advisory Council on Occupational Education at Westchester Community College.

Day Mount, Falmouth
Former U.S. Ambassador to Iceland, Day retired from the U.S. Department of State in 1999 and moved to Falmouth, MA. His other postings while a Foreign Service Officer included Austria, Thailand, Greece, and Germany. Day was a board member of The 300 Committee Land Trust for 16 years, and remains a Land Steward. Day was also a board member of the Friends of the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, and remains a member of the MBL Falmouth Forum Committee. Day holds a BA from Dartmouth College and an MBA from NYU. He and his wife Kathie have three children and six grandchildren.

Jayne Mullen-Sampson, East Dennis
Jayne retired in 2016 from Entrypoint Communications in Hartford, CT, where she was the Senior Vice President of Marketing. Jayne’s impressive career in sports and consumer marketing includes managing Anheuser-Busch’s involvement with the 1988 Calgary Olympics and directing the United States Tennis Association’s marketing initiatives. She also worked for a marketing agency leading brand plans for clients like Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, and the National Hockey League. A resident of East Dennis, Jayne graduated from Boston College with a BA in Mathematics and holds an MS in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University in Miami, FL.

Robert A. Sigel, Mashpee
Bob Sigel has had a unique and successful career in both private and public consumer goods companies. His family’s business, Millbrook Distributors, was acquired in the ‘80s by McKesson Corporation. Bob became President and CEO of McKesson Service Merchandising, Inc., with revenues of $800 million, eventually buying out the business and selling ten years later to United Natural Foods. He joined AUA Private Equity Partners as an operating executive and retired as CEO of Associated Supermarket Group in November 2015. Bob has a BA in Economics from Bowdoin College and holds an MBA in Finance from Syracuse University. He and his wife Susan reside in Mashpee, MA.

The Cape Symphony & Conservatory thanks outgoing member and former Board Chair Douglas MacDonald for his years of service and dedication to the organization.

The Cape Symphony & Conservatory Board of Trustees contributes to the good health of the organization via policy setting, fundraising, strategic planning, and financial management. Board members are active advocates for the Cape Symphony & Conservatory in the community, helping to bring awareness to the mission of “Inspiring Joy.”
