CapePOPS! concert will celebrate decades of chart-topping songs
Cape Symphony’s “Remember When Rock Was Young: The Elton John Experience” concerts on May 18 and 19, 2024 will take audiences on an unforgettable ride through some of Elton John’s greatest hits, including “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” “Tiny Dancer,” “Candle in the Wind,” and “Crocodile Rock.”
Craig A Meyer will sing and play piano in this electrifying program. Carolyn Watson will conduct.
Few artists capture the essence of a music icon with the brilliance and flair of Craig A Meyer. Renowned for his portrayal of the legendary Sir Elton John, Meyer is one of the foremost tribute artists in the industry. His spectacular performances bring the magic of Elton John’s music to life, thrilling and delighting audiences around the world. Craig A Meyer has truly mastered Sir Elton’s stage persona, from his flamboyant costumes to his signature piano-playing skill and style. True to form, the Elton John Experience is great music, glittery showmanship, and a rollicking good time.
Along with the Cape Symphony Orchestra, The Rocket Band will accompany Meyer. They are Michael Lamond on bass, Doug Jacobs on guitar, Pat Strawser on keyboards, Mark Carbone on drums, and Kelly Fletcher, Richard Mallory, and Shawn Megordan on vocals.
Acclaimed guest conductor Carolyn Watson returns to the Barnstable Performing Arts Center to lead these fabulous performances (Cape Symphony audiences will remember her from the popular Passport Down Under concerts in January 2023). Watson is Music Director of the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra. Originally from Australia, she has been based in the United States since 2013, during which time she’s led performances with symphonies across the nation. Celebrated as a versatile conductor of symphonic music and opera, Watson has received a number of prestigious awards for young conductors, including the Brian Stacey Award for emerging Australian conductors.
