2024/25 season offers outstanding classical and pops performances
The Cape Symphony Box Office will begin selling tickets for individual concerts in its 2024/25 season on Friday, June 28, 2024. Masterpiece and CapePOPS! series subscriptions are still available for purchase as well.
Cape Symphony’s 2024/25 concert season is as follows:
- September 21 & 22, 2024: Guest conductor Jean-Claude Picard will open the season with a vibrant classical program spanning centuries, featuring pieces by John Adams, Gabriella Lena Frank, and Richard Strauss, and culminating with Modest Mussorgsky’s iconic Pictures at an Exhibition. Acclaimed soprano Hyunah Yu Brody will perform.
- October 19 & 20, 2024: Troy Quinn will lead the Cape Symphony Orchestra in Dancing in the Street: The Music of Motown, with guest vocalists Crystal Monee Hall, Terron Brooks, and Jesse Nager performing smash hits made famous by artists like Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Diana Ross, and Stevie Wonder.
- November 16 & 17, 2024: Alyssa Wang will conduct Fantastique, a dynamic program of classical works by Jessica Meyer and Edvard Grieg, and Hector Berlioz’s stunning "Symphonie Fantastique." Guest artist Martina Filjak will join the Cape Symphony Orchestra for Grieg’s Piano Concerto.
- December 6, 7 & 8, 2024: Cape Symphony’s Assistant Conductor Joe Marchio, The Chatham Chorale, and the Cape Symphony Dance Company will bring the holidays to life at our annual Holiday On The Cape Highlights include Handel’s Messiah and music from The Polar Express. This year’s program features special guest performances by Broadway sensation Scarlett Strallen.
- January 25 & 26, 2025: Guest conductor Darko Butorac and the Cape Symphony Orchestra will showcase the classical wonders of Italy in Passport to Rome, with music by Gioachino Rossini, Antonio Vivaldi, and Ottorino Respighi. Cape Symphony Orchestra Principal Oboist Jillian Honn and Principal Bassoonist Meryl Summers will perform Vivaldi’s “Concerto for Oboe & Bassoon;” Principal Cellist Jacques Lee Wood and Assistant Principal Cellist Velleda Miragias will perform Vivaldi’s “Concerto for Two Cellos.”
- February 22 & 23, 2025: Cape Symphony Orchestra’s Assistant Conductor Joe Marchio and Concertmaster Jae Cosmos Lee will bring the red carpet to Cape Cod with And The Winner Is… a CapePOPS! celebration of Oscar®-winning classics. You’ll hear music from the Golden Age of Hollywood, along with favorites from Titanic, E.T., and Frozen. Broadway star Dee Roscioli (Wicked) will join the Orchestra for this award-worthy performance.
- April 5 & 6, 2025: Guest conductor Dina Gilbert will take the podium for an exciting all-Beethoven program. Beethoven: The Revolutionary begins with the Leonore Overture and culminates with his epic Symphony No. 5.
- May 17 & 18, 2025: Kevin Fitzgerald will conduct Sing Us A Song, a concert dedicated to the hits of the one and only Billy Joel, including classics like “You May Be Right” and “Only the Good Die Young.” Guest artists will be vocalist Jean Meilleur and pianist John Regan.
- June 14 & 15, 2025: James Blachly will conclude our guest conductor series with an ocean-themed program of masterworks by Maurice Ravel, Toru Takemitsu, and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Guest vocalists Sonja Tengblad, soprano; Bradford Gleim, baritone; and the Metropolitan Chorale of Brookline, directed by Lisa Graham, will join the Cape Symphony Orchestra for To The Sea.
All performances will take place at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center, 744 West Main Street, Hyannis. Saturday performances are at 7:30 PM; Sunday matinees are at 3:00 PM. Holiday on the Cape will be performed on Friday, December 6 at 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, Saturday, December 7 at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM, and Sunday, December 8 at 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
Due to popular demand, 3:00 PM matinees have been added on Saturday, October 19, 2024 for Dancing in the Street: The Music of Motown and Saturday, May 17, 2025 for Sing Us A Song: The Music of Billy Joel.
Individual concert tickets and Masterpiece and CapePOPS! series subscriptions are sold only through the Cape Symphony Box Office. A Mix/Match/Save discount is automatically applied to purchases of three or more concerts from either series (excluding Holiday).
