Cape Symphony features Cape-based singers in annual Holiday on the Cape concert

Chatham Chorale and three female vocalists included in program

HYANNIS, MA—November 7, 2017

Each year the Cape Symphony kicks off the holiday season with its epic six-concert run of Holiday on the Cape – an annual music-making tradition celebrating another year of “making spirits bright.”

This year’s brand new show features three Cape-based vocalists: GRAMMY-nominated jazz singer Kate McGarry, Siren Mayhew, and Monica Rizzio. The Chatham Chorale, a premiere vocal ensemble for the region, will once again be part of this event, and the Eddy Elementary School Select Chorus adds a little small-town charm to the festivities.

A unique aspect of this year’s popular Holiday on the Cape is Kate’s brother, Neil McGarry, professional actor and founder of The Bay Colony Shakespeare Company. Hyannis-native McGarry will present three scenes from his award-winning solo performance of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”

Mayhew, Rizzio and Kate McGarry will perform a variety of holiday favorites from “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” to more unique pieces like the jazzy “(Everybody’s Waitin’ for) The Man with the Bag,” John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas” and the touching ballad “Santa will Find You.” The three will combine forces for “A Celtic Nativity,” an Irish-based Christmas compilation.

Holiday on the Cape isn’t complete without an audience sing-along and lots of festive surprises, including a visit from Santa!

The Cape Symphony is proud to present its annual Holiday on the Cape on Friday, December 1 (4:00 PM & 8:00 PM), Saturday, December 2 (3:00 PM & 7:30 PM) and Sunday, December 3 (1:00 PM & 5:00 PM). All performances will be held at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center located at 744 West Main Street, Hyannis.
