Community to help local military families with donations of new, unwrapped toys
HYANNIS, MA—November 20, 2018
For military families, the holiday season may arrive with one or more parent away from home on duty or deployed. During the Cape Symphony’s Holiday on the Cape concerts, military personnel will park a Harbor Master boat at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center and collect new, unwrapped, packaged toys for local military families.
Military volunteers will be stationed at the boat, near the main entrance, and at the side entrance for all six performances of Holiday on the Cape to assist with donations. Toy Drive hours will be: Friday November 30: 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM and 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM; Saturday December 1: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM; and Sunday December 2: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Toddlers to teenagers will benefit from the Toy Drive, and toys suitable for that age range are requested. Gift cards can also be donated and checks can be made out to the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation, Inc. The donations will be added to the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation’s annual Operation Santa Claus. Toys will be provided to children of military personnel currently assigned to Joint Base Cape Cod in Bourne.
“It is an honor and privilege to work with the Cape Symphony on such an important mission that affects the lives of our military families,” said Don Cox, President/Chief Executive Officer of the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation.
“Our Holiday Pops concert brings people together as a community each year through cherished holiday music. Giving back with a toy donation is just another way concertgoers can get into the holiday spirit,” said Cape Symphony Chief Operating Officer Linda Mawhinney. “We couldn’t be more proud to partner with the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation on this community effort.”
The Cape Cod Military Support Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports active duty military, National Guard and Coast Guard families stationed on Cape Cod.
