Multi-GRAMMY Award Winner John Pizzarelli to Perform with the Cape Symphony

Performance will pay tribute to 100th birthday of Nat King Cole

HYANNIS, MA—September 26, 2017

It’s no surprise that Nat King Cole was a big influence in the career of John Pizzarelli.

He has two albums named after him: Dear Mr. Cole and P.S. Mr. Cole, and next month Pizzarelli will pay tribute to the cool and sophisticated jazz great with the help of the Cape Symphony in Unforgettable: Pizzarelli Celebrates Nat King Cole on Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15.

Multi-GRAMMY award winner Pizzarelli will highlight not just Nat King Cole, but the jazz genre in general. The orchestra will be highlighted in two magnificent medleys featuring the kings of jazz: Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong.

“This will be a lively tribute to Nat King Cole’s breadth of repertoire and his journey from jazz pianist to pop superstar,” said Artistic Director & Conductor Jung-Ho Pak. “It’s got everything from the lesser known beautiful songs to the really well known songs that I remember my Dad listening to when I was growing up.”

This unique opportunity will include Pizzarelli’s interpretations of “Mona Lisa,” “Unforgettable,” “Route 66,” “Ramblin' Rose,” “(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons,” “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” and so much more.

“This show makes perfect sense because Nat King Cole was first and foremost a jazz pianist. A musician’s musician. So is John. He will make you love these songs… if you didn’t already,” said Pak.

The Cape Symphony is proud to feature fan favorite John Pizzarelli in Unforgettable: Pizzarelli Celebrates Nat King Cole on Saturday, October 14 at 3:00PM and 7:30PM and Sunday, October 15 at 3:00 PM.
