Cape Symphony & Conservatory Names New Members to Board of Trustees

Six community leaders tapped as newest members of organization board

HYANNIS, MA—August 22, 2019

The Cape Symphony & Conservatory has named six new members of the Board of Trustees for the 2019/20 season with South Orleans resident Ellen A. Dickinson named Board Chair. Jacqueline deRuyter of Brewster will serve as Vice Chair. Steven Heslinga of Centerville will serve as Treasurer and Patricia Cahill of West Barnstable is now Secretary of the 20-member board.

New members to the Cape Symphony & Conservatory Board are:

Michael E. Foley, Esq., Falmouth
Michael E. Foley has been representing public and private sector employers, large and small, for profit and not-for-profit, in all matters of labor and employment law for over 31 years. Before he opened the doors at Foley & Foley PC, he served as an equity partner and Chairman of the Labor Relations, Employment Litigation, and Employee Benefit Law Practice Groups at two major New England law firms and served as General Counsel for Employment Affairs for an award-winning healthcare system. In 2007, Foley founded Foley & Foley PC, serving clients and businesses that are local, regional and national and include small to large companies in a wide variety of business sectors.

Lee Ann Hesse, West Barnstable
Lee Ann Hesse is a Human Resources professional with over 20 years of experience leading and developing compensation, benefit and training programs for local and regional banking institutions, most recently as Senior Vice President and Chief Engagement Officer for The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod. Hesse oversees the bank’s philanthropic programs including The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod Charitable Foundations launched in December 2018. She is also currently a Trustee for the JFK Hyannis Museum and a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program.

Joseph King, Pawtucket, RI
As the Vice President/Senior Wealth Management Officer for Cape Cod 5, King is responsible for client relationship management and fiduciary administration for individuals, families, not-for-profit organizations, trusts and estates on Cape Cod and in Southeastern Massachusetts. King earned his J.D. from Tulane University Law School and his B.S. in psychology from Fordham University.

Margaret Nicholson, North Falmouth
Peg Nicholson enjoyed a varied and distinguished management career, mostly in the consumer products industry. Since retiring in 2011, she has served on a variety of boards and committees including the Church of the Messiah in Woods Hole, Cranston Print Works, Cape Cod Women's Golf and Summer Golf Leagues and the Samaritans on Cape Cod and the Islands. She has also been a member of the Cape Symphony & Conservatory Finance Committee. Prior to her Senior Vice President/Chief Information Officer roles at Acushnet Company, Timberland, Addison-Wesley and Health-tex, Nicholson was a software developer, IT project manager and elementary school teacher.

Anthony Panebianco, Yarmouth Port (pictured)
For over a decade, Anthony Panebianco has been a trial lawyer for all aspects of real estate and business law in the greater Boston and Cape area. Panebianco earned his J.D. from University at Buffalo Law School and a B.A in English and Geology from Colgate University. He is a former director of the Spring Forward Horse Rescue of West Barnstable and a former member of the Yarmouth Planning Board and Mayor Menino’s Advisory Council.

Robert Summersgill, Orleans
Robert Summersgill retired from the Cape Symphony after three years as Executive Director in 2005. He was previously an active Cape Symphony & Conservatory board member until 2017 and then served as a non-board member of the Finance Committee. After graduating from Williams College, he served in the Navy for three and a half years, was a college textbook editor for McGraw-Hill, a commercial banker with Bank of Boston and Mellon Bank, and Director of Business Development for TPI, a philanthropy consulting firm. Summersgill earned an MBA from Columbia University, and studied Spanish for three years at Cape Cod Community College. He and his wife Abby live in Orleans, and they have two sons and four grandchildren.

Cape Symphony & Conservatory thanks outgoing members Marilyn Bruneau, Elizabeth McNichols Dunning, Gerald Garnick, Kevin Howard, David McGraw and Kimberly Williams for their individual as well as collective contributions.

The Cape Symphony & Conservatory Board of Trustees contributes to the good health of the Cape Symphony & Conservatory via policy setting, fundraising, strategic planning and financial management. Board members are active advocates for the Cape Symphony & Conservatory in the community, helping to bring awareness to the joint mission of “Inspiring Joy” through the arts.
