“Violin Fancy” is first performance in four-concert series
HYANNIS, MA—November 3, 2017
The powerful musicians of Nth Degree are back for a fourth season of musical adventures. Once again led by Series Director and Cape Symphony Concertmaster Jae Cosmos Lee, Nth Degree features Cape Symphony musicians and special guests in an evening of musical conversation.
The first Nth Degree concert of the season, “Violin Fancy,” will take place on Sunday, November 12 at 3:00 p.m. in Chatham. It will feature Lee and guest artist Marc Ryser on piano.
Like the first three seasons of Nth Degree the ensemble will continue to focus on intimate performances and establishing a personal connection between the audience and the musicians.
“The objective of Nth Degree, is not for the audience to simply ‘take in’ a concert. We want them to feel like they’re part of this performance, that it’s a conversation between the musicians and the audience, with the audience at the very heart of the performance,” said Lee.
Season four highlights a wide range of repertoire from the more widely-known Mozart, Brahms and Bach to other lesser-known yet brilliant composers like Prokofiev and Messiaen. The music selected for Nth Degree is carefully curated for to provide entertainment to both the avid classical music fan and to those just looking for a unique and engaging experience.
“I wanted this season’s selections to have more breadth,” said Lee. “For ‘Violin Fancy’ I decided to include two showpieces in the French tradition, “Theme and Variations” by Olivier Messiaen and one of the finest sonatas for violin and piano ever written, Cesar Franck’s “Violin Sonata.”
“There’s fancy interplay between the violin and the piano, virtuosic passages and heartfelt lyricism in both instruments,” continued Lee. “I’m looking forward to performing with Marc, a wonderful Boston-based pianist who will be joining me on this musical adventure.”
All of this season’s Nth Degree performances will be held at the First Congregational Church in Chatham at 650 Main Street, Chatham.
