Proceeds to be donated to four local food pantries on Monday, November 25
HYANNIS, MA—November 19, 2019
At the Cape Symphony’s November 2 and 3 "Bach and Forth" concert, attendees brought grocery store gift cards and made donations to help local families have healthy holiday meals. Over the two-day period, Cape Symphony audiences raised over $7,000 to purchase items for a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
“The Cape Symphony would like to thank our customers for caring about our community. The success of our Thanksgiving Food Drive means that these dedicated organizations who serve our fellow Cape Codders have a little more support this holiday season,” said Ellen Dickinson, Chair of the Cape Symphony & Conservatory Board of Trustees.
Dickinson, Linda Mawhinney, Chief Operating Officer of the Cape Symphony & Conservatory, and other board members and staff will meet with representatives from the four participating food pantries on Monday, November 25 at Faith Family Kitchen in Hyannis. Each food pantry will receive $1,750 to help with their Thanksgiving preparations.
About the Participating Pantries
The participating food pantries are The Family Pantry of Cape Cod, located in Harwich; the Falmouth Service Center, Falmouth; Faith Family Kitchen in Hyannis, and the Lower Cape Outreach Council in Orleans.
Each of the pantries serves thousands of clients each year that are struggling to feed their families. This funding will reduce costs for these facilities and allow them to provide even more assistance this holiday season.
Lower Cape Outreach Council sponsors eight food pantries on the lower Cape and makes monthly food distributions to the local Councils on Aging, WIC and Cape Cod Children’s Place. To date, Lower Cape Outreach Council has helped 4,240 households, distributed $612,952 worth of food and has over 11,000 total clients. For more information, visit lcoutreach.org.
