As we open a bold new season of discovery, we invite you on a thrilling journey beyond the horizon. From the vastness of the cosmos to the wonder of the unknown, this spectacular opening concert launches Worlds Await with music that is thrilling, cinematic, and awe-inspiring.
We’ll begin in orbit, with Kaija Saariaho’s radiant meditation on the motion of the cosmos. Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1 follows, balancing dreamlike lyricism with flashes of wit. The journey culminates in Holst’s The Planets, a suite of vivid astrological portraits from martial thunder to shimmering mysticism.
