Masterpiece 2

Some of history’s most profound musical masterpieces have been inspired by a hero’s journey from light to darkness, love and loss, with it encompassing all of life’s beauty and horror. These themes play out in magnificent form in Berlioz’s monumental “Symphonie Fantastique” and Grieg’s enchanting Piano Concerto. Buckle your seat belts, these stories are truly epic!

Alyssa Wang, Conductor

Alyssa Wang is a passionate and versatile conductor, violinist, and composer. A recipient of the 2023 Solti Foundation Career Assistance Award and the 2022 St. Botolph Emerging Artist Award, Alyssa has enjoyed exploring diverse creative paths across several areas, with a focus on audience inclusivity and engagement. She is the Co-Founder, Artistic Director, and Principal Conductor of the Boston Festival Orchestra.

The Masterpiece Series concerts also feature the Musically Speaking pre-concert talks, insightful and entertaining looks into the music you are about to hear. These free 30-minute talks begin one hour prior to each Masterpiece Series concert.
