Cape Symphony Presents: Club D'Elf

Secret Planet Cape Cod debuts at the Chatham Orpheum Theater Thursday, October 1 with the hypnotic, genre-defying sound of Club d’Elf.

For almost 30 years, Club d’Elf has helped audiences lose track of time through its shape-shifting fusion of Moroccan trance, dub, electronica, jazz, and improvised funk. Built around bassist and composer Mike Rivard, the band creates performances that begin with a groove and open into something older, stranger, and completely unbound by genre.

Each show features a rotating cast of musicians drawn from Boston, New York, and beyond, creating a constantly shifting musical ecosystem where trance forms the central core.

Secret Planet Cape Cod is a co-production of Cape Symphony Presents and Narrowland Music, bringing extraordinary global artists to our community, connecting cultures and igniting new traditions.

Gypsy Sol Sessions: Lily Mae Harrington

This summer, Cape Symphony Presents brings a new live music residency to the Uncommoner Hotel in West Yarmouth as part of Summer Sessions on 28 –– a seasonal series designed to turn Route 28 into a destination for music, culture, and connnections.

Set within Gypsy Sol’s tarot-inspired, bohemian atmosphere, Gypsy Sol Sessions invites locals and visitors alike to gather for curated afternoons of live music, conversation, and laid-back summer energy. Blending folk, jazz, indie, soul, and acoustic storytelling, each weekend offers a distinct musical experience shaped by atmosphere as much as performance.

From emerging regional artists to familiar Cape favorites, the series creates a space to slow down, discover something new, and enjoy live music in an intimate and welcoming setting.

Cape Symphony Presents: Derek Gripper

Secret Planet Cape Cod comes to Chapel in the Pines in Eastham on Wednesday, October 14 for a special candlelit evening with internationally acclaimed South African guitarist Derek Gripper.

Derek is one of the world’s most singular guitar voices. Known for translating the dazzling, deeply layered music of the West African kora onto solo classical guitar, he has created a sound that feels both ancient and entirely new. His music draws listeners into a world where South African roots, Malian traditions, classical technique, improvisation, and meditative storytelling meet in one extraordinary performance.

What makes Gripper’s playing so remarkable is not only his technical prowess, but the emotional depth behind it. Through his arrangements of music associated with legendary kora masters including Toumani Diabaté, Gripper opens a doorway between traditions, transforming the six-string guitar into something expansive. Every note feels alive with movement, history, and discovery.

Set inside the warm and intimate Chapel in the Pines, this performance is a fundraiser for WOMR, helping support the station’s mission of presenting local, eclectic, entertaining, informative, and educational programming for Cape Cod and beyond. Slashing strings, pulsing rhythms, and stark silences heighten every frame as music drives the tension in this classic thriller! Music Director Alyssa Wang will conduct.
