Clarinetist Mónika Veress’s career began at age 11, when she left her Romanian village to attend a music school which had just reopened after the fall of communism. After years of study and teaching, life and music brought her to Cape Cod.

The Cape Symphony Orchestra presents “Passport to Rome” on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center.

When you attend a Cape Symphony concert, the first note you hear may well be Jillian Honn’s. As Principal Oboist, hers is the clear, sustained note the orchestra tunes to before each performance. “That can be daunting… it’s an immense responsibility. Sometimes the scariest thing about a performance is the tuning!” she laughs.
