CCNS will welcome the Cape Symphony for family-friendly performance on Friday, August 23
HYANNIS, MA—August 6, 2019
What better way to spend a summer night on Cape Cod than with live music in an idyllic setting with the company of good friends? Join the Cape Symphony at Cape Cod National Seashore’s outdoor amphitheater for the fourth annual Symphony at the Seashore concert on Friday, August 23 at 7:00 PM. New in 2019: Pre-concert activities for kids, 6:00 to 6:45 PM.
This free, family-friendly performance, presented by the National Park Service and Cape Symphony, has become a tradition for visitors and locals alike. This year’s Symphony at the Seashore performance features a lively pops program with delightful music from movies and Broadway, plus a bit of Disney magic. The big finale? Heart-stirring patriotic tunes, including the “Armed Services Salute” and Stars and Stripes Forever,” accompanied by digital fireworks!
“This has become one of my favorite nights of the season,” said Cape Symphony Artistic Director & Conductor Jung-Ho Pak. “The intimate setting and gorgeous backdrop paired with the fun, uplifting music brings joy not only to me and our amazing musicians, but the greater community as a whole. For me, that’s what music is all about…inspiring joy.”
A highlight of this year’s performance is the Cape Symphony debut of vocalist Mia Pak, Jung-Ho’s daughter. Mia Pak recently made her Lincoln Center debut, and has been in over 20 productions spanning from Shakespeare’s comedies to contemporary musicals to American family dramas. She is currently living in New York City where she is pursuing a career in theater as well as earning her BFA in Drama from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Making return appearances, singers Jessica Curran, Anna McEntee, and the Cape Symphony’s own Personnel Manager, Jennifer Dashnaw will also take the stage. A jazz-pop vocalist, composer, arranger and lyricist, Curran soaks in stories and soundscapes from the countries she’s visited and connects those experiences to the world through her songwriting and vibrant stage presence. McEntee is a Cape Cod native from Sandwich and gave a beautiful performance with the Cape Symphony in Holiday on the Cape. Anna sings around the Cape with her new band, Anna and the Moderns. Retired MSgt. Dashnaw left the Air Force in 2015 after serving the country for over 20 years as an Airman musician, performing around the world as a clarinetist and vocalist. All three singers will also join Jung-Ho Pak and the orchestra for Holiday on the Cape in December 2019.
“This quintessential summer concert should be on the bucket list of every local and visitor alike,” said Pak. “We are thrilled to be returning to Cape Cod National Seashore for a fourth year and can’t wait to perform yet again in one of the most beautiful locations on Cape Cod.”
This concert is made possible by major financial support from Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore, philanthropic partner to the National Seashore since 1987, and America’s National Parks, operating park stores at seashore visitor centers and the Keeper’s Shop and tours at Highland Light.
