Kyle Spraker has served as Principal Trumpet with the Cape Symphony since 2016. He is also a devoted member of the teaching artist faculty and the Program Director (administrator) of the Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra Program.
Aside from his dedication to the Cape Symphony, Kyle is also a member of the Vista Philharmonic Orchestra in Groton, MA, and often performs with the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra. He's been a guest musician for several other symphonies including the Plymouth Philharmonic, Vermont Symphony, Albany Symphony, Symphony New Hampshire, and the Kyushu Symphony in Japan. His career has often extended beyond orchestral playing, performing with chamber ensembles, big bands, rock bands, and recording for film and video games. He's performed and taught both in the United States and abroad, including in Asia, Eastern Europe, and Central and South America.
Locally, Kyle and has performed with many Cape Cod ensembles and choral groups including:
Chatham Chorale, Falmouth Chorale, Outer Cape Chorale, Cape Cod Chorale, Wood’s Hole Cantata Consortium, Cape Conservatory Jazz Band, Nantucket Community Music Center Jazz Band, Falmouth Chamber Players, and the Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra.
Kyle earned a master's degree in performance from the New England Conservatory in 2010 where he studied with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Long Beach, where he studied with members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He’s also participated in several notable festivals including the Spoleto Festival USA, National Orchestral Institute, Idyllwild Festival, and the Castleton Festival under the baton of Lorin Maazel.
Kyle lives in Sandwich with his wife Maria, who is also a performer and educator. In their spare time, they enjoy exploring the West Barnstable Conservation Area and going for walks with their dog, Poco, at Sandy Neck beach.
